The next stop on our European adventure was Zurich, Switzerland. The whole point of going was so we could see the Swiss alps, a place where many would never see. The only problem was we stayed in Zurich so we had to find a tour that would take us there. Before we even left I researched different places around the alps so I could get the most perfect picture possible. I found something called mount first, in Grindelwald, Switzerland, if you zoom in on the middle of the picture you can see the little town down below. Next I needed to find a way to get there or a tour of some kind, so I spent a few more days researching a good one, I eventually found one through trip advisor which my parents then bought for us as my Christmas present. It was a 12 hour tour that started in Zurich, took us by bus to Interlaken, then from there we drove up to Lauterbrunnen where we got onto a cable car train that took us deeper up into the Alps, we eventually seperated from the group at KleineScheidegg, and took the train to Grindelwald so we could go up Mount First. It took about 30-45 mins and 3 gondolas to make it to the top, then we walked along the edge of the mountain, called skywalk, up to this glass platform over look where I was able to get this amazing picture. The three mountains from left to right are Monch, Eiger and Jungfrau, with Eiger being the most famous. I did wish for more green but I was also nervous we wouldn’t be able to go up, but in reality it’s a perfect picture of what you think the Swiss alps look like and I’m still so amazed that I’ve actually been there and done that. If you’ve ever seen videos of Switzerland and think they are fake, they are not. Switzerland really is that amazing and colorful, it’s hard to believe it even when you do see it.
My girlfriend has never been out of the country before we started dating, that has changed. She said she always wanted to go Paris and see the Swiss alps, and of course I wanted to too. We started planning our trip around our birthdays in October to visit a few different countries in Europe. We thought we might as well see a few different places while we are there. In Paris we stayed in this nice Airbnb in the 15th Arrondissement, which is just south of the Eiffel Tower, which we could see from the street we stayed on. This particular picture was taken on top of the Arc De Triomphe towards the Eiffel Tower. The street the second from the left is the Champs-Elysees, the second most expensive street in the world, if you zoom down the street at the end you can see The Lourve. While we were in Paris we did almost everything a tourist would do, had pastries and breakfast and dinner with a view of the Eiffel Tower, walked up the Arc De Triomphe, took a big bus tour through the city and Montmartre, the red light district, saw Notre Dame, toured The Lourve, and walked down the streets of Paris. We ended up having McDonald’s one of the days to see if it was different than McDonald’s in the USA, and it was, they had a lot healthier type of meats and grains you could instantly tell the difference in quality. It was an amazing adventure for both of us, because we both had never been to these places, so it was a first for both of us. This is one of my favorites and better pictures, I have it hanging right above the tv in my house right now. Paris is really that grey looking, the buildings and it’s always overcast in Paris. I like how all the buildings are the same height and then you have the Eiffel Tower standing over them all, it really does make it stand out even more as a great picture, with the simplicity in the colors but it makes you feel like you are actually in Paris.
This particular place is called Horseshoe bend, located at the northern part of the Grand Canyon. I have wanted to go here for some time, and about a year before, my parents went and told me how cool it was. Neither my girlfriend nor myself had been to the Grand Canyon and she wanted this to be a first for both of us. We decided to take a road trip from Bakersfield to the four corners and then stay in flagstaff so we could go to the Grand Canyon the other days. This was probably the only time I’ve ever been afraid of heights because you look straight down and there are no guard rails to stop you. It was definitely one of the seven wonders of the world, with this view, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day.
When I was about 15 or so my family took a road trip from Bakersfield to Seattle/Vancouver, but at the time I wasn’t taking my panoramas so I never did get a picture. For this trip my girlfriend had never been out of the state or on a plane and one of the places she wanted to see was Seattle. So naturally we took a plane trip to Seattle for a few days. It was her first trip outside of California so I had to make sure it was one to remember. We went to the aquarium, the space needle, the giant Ferris wheel, a Seattle Sounders soccer game, a Seattle Mariners baseball game, took a ferry trip around the bay, ate at a top steak restaurant, a local brewery, the first Starbucks, the fish market and finally bought some legal weed. We stayed in amazing Airbnb that faced towards downtown and the space needle. For this picture it was taken on the ferry boat ride we took around the bay. The reason I like this one so much is you can see everything, the far left: the space needle, and Ferris wheel, the middle: downtown and fish market, the far right: both football and baseball stadiums and the port. With Seattle being notorious for raining, it only rained once on our trip for like 5 minutes when we left the airport, it was super lucky so I got a nice bright clear picture, something some Seattle people probably never will see.
Usually once a year me and my family will take a trip up to Mammoth Mountain to get some skiing and snowboarding in. Located in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, mammoth mountain is a larger ski resort on the west coast. I my self snowboard but unfortunately there is no good spots to take a panorama from the actual mountain or of the actual mountain. This picture is about 10-15 miles outside the city on our way home from one of our trips. They had a great snow season so most of the floor was still covered with snow and since I didn’t have any snow pictures I thought this would have been a nice one to add to my collection. While it’s not high up on my favorite list, it did come out a lot better than I thought.
This is one of my favorites and one of my best pictures. The summer of 2018 I wanted to see the city since I usually don’t when I visit New York and I wanted to see my cousin Sarah who lived there and I wanted to drive up to the lake with my friend Anthony who lived in queens. On this trip in particular I flew first class to the city, I wanted to know what it felt like, it was definitely worth it and I want to do it again soon. This was the view from my cousin Sarah’s apartment, I didn’t know this was the view when I was going there but oh wow it was perfect. With all the skyscrapers and different colored buildings, along with the greenery across the street and The Empire State Building right in the middle of it all, perfect. I have this one printed out and I have it in my living room right across from my couch so I am able to look at this picture whenever I want and imagine I was back in the same spot, 20 stories up in NYC.
From December 28, 2016- January 8, 2017 me, my sister and my cousin went on a Birthright trip to Israel. Being a Jewish family this was something the country of Israel though every Jewish person should experience, visiting the homeland. During the trip a group of young adults traveled around Israel while learning about the culture and the history of the land. It was an amazing experience to see how other people lived, seeing lands and houses that are thousands of years old, seeing the Western Wall, Tel Aviv, the Dead Sea and the Red Sea. I got to walk around Tel Aviv, ride a camel in the desert, float in the Dead Sea, snorkel in the Red Sea from which you could see Jordan and Egypt, visiting Mount Masada, it was all a once in a lifetime experience.
The summer of 2016 was a busy one for the Hodash family, we went to England to Scotland to San Diego to lake George within a months time. I enjoyed every moment of that summer and with my photography skills improving, I needed a better Lake George picture. Even though it’s similar to the San Diego picture, this one just feels more mountainy. Located deep within the Adirondack Mountains, lake George is a scenic oasis. My uncle has a nice house he lets us stay in every summer and within the community is this beach we have. After going there every year since I was born our family has grown close to all the people who have houses there and go up each summer. There’s a gazebo where my friends and I and even other people will hang out in whether it’s nice out or it’s storming out, you can always find a group of people drinking and laughing there, having a great time. There’s always so much interaction in this neighborhood, every one is so close, there’s even different relatives of different families living there. Every year I look forward to it, from the day I leave I am already planning my next trip back the next year.
I think this is when I started taking pictures on my iPhone 8s because this picture marked a real change in my panorama game. This was easily my best panorama so far when it was taken. My grandparents invited the whole family to stay at Bahia Resort for a week, it is one of their favorite spots. Located in mission bay, Bahia is a world class resort, with rooms right on the beach. This picture had everything you could ask for, for such an authentic beach picture. The white sand beach, clear blue water, paddle boards, palm trees, kids playing in the sand and bright blue skies. For Christmas 2016 I got this picture for my grandparents. It was the first time some one outside my immediately family had one or even seen them printed out. Once they opened it, they loved it, and so did everyone else. I now think every family member has this picture hanging up in their home or their office. I know it’s one of my favorites.
Another picture taken during my families England trip. After spending a week in London my family and I took a train up to Edinburg, Scotland. It was cold and wet most of the time but still it was nice to be around some of the greenest trees and freshest air ever. My dad likes history and castles so this was one of his picks, and this was taken at the top level of the castle facing towards the North Sea a few minutes before they shot the cannon down below. On the very right side there is a hotel where J.K Rowling finished one of her Harry Potter books (I forgot which one).
This picture was taken during my families trip to England. Me and my dad had just finished taking a tour of the Tower of London where all the royal jewels and crowns are stored. Down with the French. We were waiting for my sister and mom to be finished with their tour so we waited by the river. Many people think this is the London Bridge, but it is actually the Tower Bridge. Yes the water is really that color due to the silt in the water and I felt it was necessary to keep that color in the picture. What I like about this picture is Tower Bridge you know you are in England and the guy on the left that I named Jim, just gave it that even more Englandy feel to it.
My family and I have been to England before but me and my sister were too young to remember most of it and my parents wanted to do something nice for us since we were both out of high school. During the trip each of us got to pick something we wanted to do/see and I came up with a tour all around England, most specifically I wanted to see the Stonehenge. Even if you haven’t been there before you know what it is, even though its not one of my favorites I do still appreciate the picture with its green landscape.
